There are several options for getting more information onto a single page with Dynamics CRM.  Some of these options are built into Dynamics CRM and some are part of Internet Explorer.  Here they are, in no particular order:

  1. Collapse the ribbon menu: On the right hand side of the ribbon menu, there is a small “carat” symbol (it looks like this “^”).  Clicking the symbol will collapse the ribbon menu, giving you all of that available real estate to view your forms and lists.  This does, however, have a drawback – your menus are no longer visible or usable.  To save a record (for example) you will first need to “uncollapse” the ribbon menu.  Boo.

  2. View Internet Explorer in full screen mode: While using Internet Explorer (IE), you can click the F11 key to view it in full screen mode.  This gets rid of much of the standard windows interface (the URL bar, IE tabs, Favorites, etc) – giving you quite a bit of additional space.  You can hit F11 again to go back to normal mode or, if you just want to switch to a different IE tab, you can move your mouse to the top of the screen and the tabs slide down for you.  Nice.

  3. Zoom out: IE also includes a little used feature that allows you to zoom out (or zoom in) on web pages.  To use it, just click on the magnifying class in the lower right-hand corner of your browser and choose the magnification level you want (I’ve found that zooming to 85% leaves everything still legible and gives me quite a bit of additional space).  Note that, after changing your magnification, it may look like part of the screen is cut off – hit the F5 key to reload the page and everything should return to normal.  Sweet.

Combine them all!  I’ve found that, when I combine all 3 of the above approaches, I can go from 18 – 36 rows in my list grids.  That’s a 100% increase in what’s on my screen.
