What are Quick Campaigns?

Quick Campaigns enable the creation of activities against a group of records. 

For example, let's say your organization has an event coming up next week. You are tracking all event registrations in D365, and you want to make sure you take action in two specific ways against that list of people;

A. You want to email registrants the day before the event with venue arrival details.

B. You want your team to conduct follow-up phone calls within three days after the event.

Quick Campaigns are an excellent fit for this! You can run Quick Campaigns to generate these activities in CRM. The emails can be routed out the day before the event by running a Quick Campaign against the registrants and ensuring the emails are slated for delivery right away.

Then, immediately following the event, a Quick Campaign can be run against the list of attendees to create Phone Call activities due in 3 days. The owner of the activities can be a specific individual or the owner of the record in question.

In minutes, the system will generate all of the necessary actions, and users can make those calls following the event.

Let's take a look at the key elements of a Quick Campaign.

Quick Campaigns Set-up Process

Quick Campaigns have a "wizard" process that makes creating them a breeze.

You can find Quick Campaigns in several different places. In the screenshot below, I've selected several records on the Contact table and then located the Quick Campaign icon in the command bar.

Clicking this produces three options:

  • For Selected Records
  • For All Records on Current Page
  • For All Records on All Pages

Note: Had I not selected any records, the "For Selected Records" option would not appear.

In this case, I'll click For Selected Records, and the Quick Campaign wizard will launch.

First, I'll name the Quick Campaign.

Next, I select the Activity Type and define the owners of the activities. The following options are available:

  • The owners of the records in the target marketing lists - Assigns the activities to the owners of the selected records
  • Assign to me - Assigns the activities to the user running the Quick Campaign
  • Assign to other users or team - Allows the user running the Quick Campaign to select the owner or team the activities will be assigned to
  • Optional, Add the created activities to a queue

Next, we provide details of the activity, including its Priority, Due date, Subject, Description, and Duration.

Finally, we're given a summary page to confirm the details of the activities.

That's it! The system will then process the request and create the activity. Here is Jim Glynn's record, one of the selected ones we ran this Quick Campaign against. We can see the Phone Call activity in the Timeline of the record.

Email Activities

When creating email activities through a Quick Campaign, we can select whether to route the email immediately or if the email should be made in Draft state and wait for manual delivery.

This option appears on the activity selection page of the Quick Campaign window. Leaving the box checked as we have in the screenshot below will mark the emails as complete, which will send the emails automatically at that time.

Quick Campaigns offer a quick and easy way to generate activities against records. This can be done against records as shown or against a Marketing List.
